Welcome!
Currently serving all over the Grand Strand area. I teach out of my home as well as traveling all over Horry and northern Georgetown counties teaching my students 7 days a week. I am centrally located near Coastal Carolina University off of Hwy 544. On any given day I am traveling from Conway to Socastee up to Myrtle Beach to Carolina Forest and then down into Surfside and Murrells Inlet. If you think you might be in a place where I won’t go to call me today to ask and I am sure I can find a way to accommodate you.
How the lessons work:
I develop a customized teaching approach to each student. My lesson plans are all unique and prepared new for each lesson. I find some folks enjoy a by the book lesson plan, while others enjoy a more a laid back atmosphere of learning requested songs and techniques. I arrange lessons according to your taste in music and your abilities. Tell me what YOU want to learn and where you see yourself in the future and I promise I will do my best to make it happen. You will learn more than just finger exercises and drills, you will learn to be a musician and will learn something new to be proud of every lesson.
My philosophy of teaching:
The key is to remember to have fun. Its hard to stick with an instrument if you aren’t having fun learning it. My ideal approach to teaching is a combination of technique/theory and to teach you how to emulate the musicians you most respect and want to sound like. It’s always a thrill hearing music you make sound like the music you’ve known and loved for years. Together we will go through your favorite genre of music and learn the songs and styles you are most interested in. I will teach you all this while incorporating all the fundamentals and chords and scales, etc that everyone needs to know. I try to keep everything focused In the context of your favorite music. This teaching method will ensure that you continue to move forward along your musical journey and keep you picking up your instrument day after day.
Rates and Policies:
Lessons rates are as follows:
For lessons at your place: $60 per one full hour lesson.
For lessons at my place: $50 per one hour lessons or $30 per half hour.
One hour lessons once a week are recommended for my students as the most efficient way to achieve progress.
I gladly will travel to you for hour long lessons but I usually only teach half-hour lessons at my place. The extra drive time and gas makes half hour lessons hard to justify. While also I do feel that hour long lessons are the best way to truly progress musically. An hour allows us to get through enough material, including learning something new while reviewing previously learned techniques/songs.
I prefer to have my students paid in advance for each month, paid at the end of the month for the upcoming month. If you know in advance that there is a week you won’t be able to attend we can subtract that from the monthly total. However any lessons cancelled without 3 days notice will count towards the lesson total. Also lesson credits do not roll over to the next month if unused. I do allow for rescheduling if need be and given enough notice, I will gladly work with you to reschedule and accommodate your schedule. I used to not need so much extra fine print here, but a couple of bad experiences with repeat offenders who continually cancelled or no-showed have forced me to lay out these stipulations in advance.
I accept cash, zelle, venmo or checks.
For my younger students parents are absolutely welcome to join in on the lesson.
I can offer gift cards and multi lesson packages for birthday or Christmas presents. Music lessons make perfect presents. Just ask.
